
It is written that one can say to the mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move. I have tried time and time again, only to reckon that this mountain is yours. As much as I want this mountain to move, I cannot want it for the both of us. I cannot want it more than you.
There is a thin line between love and hate, help and enabling. The anatomy of enabling is a very specific line: compassion and assumed responsibility.
With a heavy heart, I have come to realize it is not the mountain that needs to move, but me.
